Aldactone belongs to a group of medicines called ‘anti-hypertensive medicines’. Aldactone is used to treat the symptoms of high blood pressure.
Symptoms of high blood pressure include:
Aldactone is used in the treatment of heart failure.
This medicine belongs to the group of medicines called ‘diuretics’. It blocks the action of a hormone called ‘water’, which helps your body retain water. It does this by increasing the amount of water that the body needs to retain the salt. This is important for your kidneys to remove extra water from your body. Aldactone works by increasing the amount of urine that your body makes.
You may be given Aldactone by your doctor to relieve symptoms of high blood pressure.
Your doctor may have prescribed Aldactone to relieve your symptoms of heart failure.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not take Aldactone if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not take Aldactone if you are breast feeding.
Do not take Aldactone if you are not allergic to any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet.If you have an allergic reaction, such as asthma, hives or rash, or if you have a hypersensitivity to any of the components in Aldactone, your doctor or pharmacist may have advised you to take Aldactone. See the end of this leaflet for further details.
Do not take Aldactone if you are also taking potassium sparing diuretics, such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide.If you have an allergic reaction, such as a rash or swelling of the face, lips or tongue, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Aldactone.
Aldactone can reduce the amount of urine your body makes and may increase the risk of high blood pressure.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Aldactone if you are also taking potassium sparing diuretics, such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide, or potassium sparing diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide, or potassium sparing diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide, or potassium sparing diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide, or potassium chloride.

ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children with moderate to severe kidney disease. It should be used with caution in children with hypertension. They should be managed under guidance of a paediatrician. Your doctor will decide the correct dose or select a suitable alternative therapy for your child.
CanALDACTONE 100MG TABLETcause erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction is an uncommon side effect of ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET. Consult your physician if you have trouble getting an erection or related symptoms.
Is ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET safe to use in pregnancy?
ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. So before taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or planning to get pregnant.
Can I stop taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET?
Do not stop taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop. Your original symptoms may return if you stop taking it suddenly. Ask for your doctor’s advice if you wish to discontinue taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET.
Can ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET be crushed?
ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET should be generally swallowed wholly with a glass of water, but to make it easier for children to take, the medicine may first be ground or crushed and then mixed in a glass of water by stirring. What if I forget to take a dose ofALDACTONE 100MG TABLET?
If you forget to take a dose of ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET, take it as soon as you remember, and then continue your management as usual. Do not take the medicine twice to make up for the forgotten dose.
How should I take ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET?Take ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. Do not exceed the recommended dose. To ensure you are getting at least a 3 hour delay before the sexual activity, read the patient information leaflet provided with ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET. Your doctor may prescribe a different medication or recommend another treatment for you before you are able to achieve a 3 hour delay before sexual activity. Do not take ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET more than 1 time.
What are the side effects of ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET?ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET may or may not cause the following side effects: headache, nausea, dizziness, feeling sick (nausea is more common), or vomiting. If you experience any of these effects, you should stop taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET and seek medical help immediately. Tell your doctor. Your doctor may order a dose-related scan, blood pressure and other tests to monitor your sexual activity. If you continue to experience any adverse effects, you should contact your doctor.
Remember that, because of the possibility of experiencing moderate to severe side effects, it is advised to notify your doctor immediately after taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET. If you experience any severe side effects, such as prolongedQT interval or irregular heartbeats, you should stop taking ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET and seek medical help.
Common side effects of ALDACTONE 100MG TABLET:Allergic reactions such as rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat. If you are allergic to aldactone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, you should seek medical attention. Nausea. Diarrhoea. Blood swelling. Indigestion. Headache. The common side effects include:, stomach pain, feeling sick (nausea is more common), feeling anxious, nervous, headache, sleepiness, sleep problems. If you experience any signs of allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, swelling of the mouth, tongue, face, or neck, get medical help immediately. Stomach pain. Lower lower abdominal pain.
